Silberseebob (2015)

The last stop on my route back to Hamburg was the Silberseebob near Frielendorf am Silbersee, which I had already visited unsuccessfully two years ago. Although the closure of the ride was still a long way off this time, the way to the lake turned out to be time-consuming due to numerous route closures. Finally found, I parked my car directly behind the Nautic Jet and hurried to the ride.

Silberseebob • Wiegand Alpine Coaster

After a short briefing the trip could start right away. After climbing up the lift we immediately went over a small meadow towards the forest. In a left turn you increase your speed steadily before you go down a jump. Another left turn follows, which is immediately followed by a right turn. The path is serpentine yet very fast and leads through the forest until you reach a clearing. Here you change direction and pass two waves. Two turns later you cross the lift hill and approach the end of the ride in a zigzag trajectory.

The Silberseebob is a very nice Wiegand Alpine Coaster, which offers a good and speedy ride. For a little detour to the north or south the ride is highly recommended.

Monte Coaster (2015)

On the outskirts of the town of Hirschau is Monte Kaolino, a 120m high dump of kaolin-containing quartz sand, which was created from kaolin mining nearby. On the southern slope of the slag heap there has been a recreational area since the 1950s, which today offers a camping site, a swimming pool, a sand ski slope, the Alpine Coaster Monte Coaster and numerous smaller attractions.

When talking about the first drop par excellence on a roller coaster, the first descent of the Expedition GeForce from the Holiday Park certainly and relatively spontaneously comes to mind, but if you think of an extraordinary drop on an Alpine Coaster, you can hardly talk about the right drop at the beginning of most rides, unless you know the Monte Coaster.

Hardly climbed up the steep slope it goes directly down the steep curve and into some jumps. Under the now existing maximum speed we immediately go into the following helix and after some detours into the small forest. The ride is a bit more leisurely now, but the jumps don’t stop and after a few meters of distance there is another steep turn, similar to the first downhill of this ride. With a clearly existing gradient, the ride continues at full throttle to the end of the ride, which is crowned with a jump, where you have to brake, but don’t want to.

The Monte Coaster is without a question brilliant, but unfortunately it gets the short end of the stick compared to some of the larger rides like the Hasenhorn Coaster or the Trapper Slider from the German theme park Fort Fun Abenteuerland. The only thing missing here are some meters of track, because the rest, which the sand built exotic among the Alpine Coasters delivers, is first class and definitely worth a visit.

Bocksbergbob (2013)

As the Bocksbergbob was unfortunately closed during the last visit to the Bocksberg, the Alpine Coaster in the village of Hahnenklee was once again approached in order to enjoy the pleasure of a ride. Learning from the mistakes of the last visit, we did not only go up the mountain much earlier but also via cable car, which gave some interesting insights onto the Wiegand ride.

Although the ride through the serpentines, jumps and zigzag bends can be described as fast in the beginning, one notices unfortunately very quickly that the top speed is always throttled compared to other installations of the same manufacturer by the use of eddy current brakes along the track. The fun of riding suffers a lot from this circumstance, so that the system hardly remains in your memory. Despite the extreme high level of safety, gravity brakes on the sleds are still the better choice.

However, if you can do without the highest possible speed and can’t do anything with pronounced forces or would use the brake lever even on this layout, the Bocksbergbob offers a good ride. Together with the other attractions that have been built on the mountain or the diving towers that are currently being erected, the Bocksberg offers quite enough possibilities for a day trip to the Harz mountains, at best in connection with the beautiful city of Goslar.
