Going back to San Francisco

The second visit to San Francisco

After driving to San Francisco, I checked into the Motel 6 San Francisco CA Fisherman’s Wharf. From here I took a nice walk around the city. I walked down the famous Lombard Street before heading towards Fisherman’s Wharf. Being a fan of the Hard Rock Café, I had to have a meal there.

The next day I went to Golden Gate Park where I visited the California Academy of Sciences. The museum was a great way to kill a few hours, but not as interesting as the Museum of Natural Science in Houston, which I visited a few years ago.

On my way to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom I stopped at the Golden Gate Bridge. Taking a picture of the famous bridge is not as easy as you might think, as there are a lot of people doing it.

A short visit to Monterey

Before heading to San Francisco to explore the city for two more days, I started my day with a fantastic breakfast in Monterey. This little harbour town is surprisingly charming, especially as it has a strong French influence. I had a great crêpe and one of the best coffees I have had in America at the little Crepes of Brittany café.

The Trail of 100 giants

After my visit to Knott’s Berry Farm, I was on my way to Sequoia National Park – or so I thought. I planned to stay in Kernville – small town USA at its best – where I stayed at the Kern Riverview Inn. It was not only the cheapest hotel of my trip, but also by far the nicest. Kernville is also such a charming place to visit and it has a great local brewery.

As I hadn’t planned for any roadblocks, the trip to Sequoia National Park would have meant a very long drive, so I ended up just visiting Sequoia National Forest. One of my main goals for my California trip was to see one of the mammoth trees. So I went to the Trail of 100 Giants. Although it wasn’t the hike I had originally planned, I had a great time.

The next leg of my journey took me back to the Bay Area – which meant another long drive. I spent another night in Santa Cruz. This time I stayed at the Aqua Pacific Hotel, which was very nice, especially for the price.
