Rodelbahn Petersberg (2015)

Petersberg near Halle (Saale) is a thoroughly strange place. Beside the toboggan run Rodelbahn Petersberg you can find here a high ropes course, the zoo Petersberg and a huge fairground, which is also the reason for the many parking lots around it. At the time of the visit all hell was breaking loose in Petersberg, so it was not easy to get to one of the parking lots, especially as the local visitors are not necessarily the best drivers. During the Krammarkt, three Euros were charged for parking, a proud price, after all I wasn’t particularly interested in the goods advertised here, and apart from the noodle dealer from the Hamburg fish market, there wasn’t much that should have kept you at the stands.

The Rodelbahn Petersberg is located directly on the path on the other side of the road. After you have paid for the ride, you can start immediately. Through a dense forest with partly interesting footbridge constructions along the way you climb up the lift.

At the top, you leave it in a small right-hand bend, whereupon you immediately increase your speed. After a further right turn and a change of direction, you instantly make a downward helix to the right. Shortly afterwards you race over a small gradient, whereupon only two left and right turns alternate. After that, the more than respectable, even if quite short, ride ends.

Sommer- und Winterrodelbahn Wippra (2015)

When I last visited Wippra the Sommer- und Winterrodelbahn Wippra was unfortunately closed for technical reasons. On the off chance I dared to visit it again, since the web site, which had been neglected for years, unfortunately does not provide any data on whether it was open or not, and lo and behold, after I had paid the price for a ride – which was higher than the price listed in the ticket office list – the ride could start right away.

After leaving the lift there is a short right-hand bend, whereupon one immediately increases speed in a left-hand bend. This speed is continuously increased on the following straight before it goes into a wide right turn and then over a small gradient. In a small tunnel you change direction and race down the slope for a few meters before you approach the highlight of the course in a wide right turn. With full speed you pass a bigger jump and after another turn you pass two waves. Then you go around a small lake featuring a Nautic Jet from Heege, only to take off a little bit in the sled in another jump. Two turns later you reach the end of the Sommer- und Winterrodelbahn Wippra.

Allwetterrodelbahn WeiĂźenfels (2013)

The trip to the Allwetterrodelbahn Weißenfels turned out to be quite adventurous, because although it is located right next to a well-developed country road, my navigation system pulled me over a gravel road ahead to Schöne Aussicht. Here you will find a garden, the aforementioned Alpine Coaster and a well equipped miniature golf course.

Due to the flat terrain, the ride unfortunately turns out to be less exciting, because although it gains more and more speed, one hardly passes any interesting elements during this time. The beginning of the ride looks visually unattractive due to the lift with only a slight inclination afterwards. A start like the Brocken Coaster in Schierke would have been more interesting, and a more compact design of the ride would not have been bad. As soon as the ride reaches the forest, the ride becomes a lot of fun, but it’s a pity that the final brake is already reached in the next moment.

The Allwetterrodelbahn WeiĂźenfels is nice, especially as the price-performance ratio is good and there are clearly worse representatives of this type of summer toboggan run. One is visibly anxious to get the best out of the facility, so that a stopover, although only a short one, is definitely recommended.
