Space World (スペースワールド) in Kitakyushu nearby Fukuoka was one of Japan’s largest amusement parks. From 1990 till New Year’s Eve 2017 guest could experience a highly immersive theme park. As the name suggests the park focused on the topic of space exploration and even featured a Space Museum for anyone interested.
The park was home to a total of six roller coasters, as well as a large number of exciting shows and attractions. During the hot summer months it also featured a small water park and in winter it was home to an indoor ice rink.
If you want have a look onto the former grounds of the theme park and experience a newly built mall, the easiest and fastest way to reach the amusement park is by train to JR Space World Station.
Fun Fact #1: Planet AQA was the first rapid river ride by the manufacturer Hafema.
Fun Fact #2: Due to a high number of circumstances, the looping coaster Venus GP had become the first step for the manufacturer Maurer AG into the roller coaster business.
