Gardaland located in Castelnuovo del Garda right next to Lake Garda is one of the largest theme parks in Italy. After a visit to the original Disneyland in Anaheim, businessman Livio Furini decided to create his own park. Gardaland opened in 1975 and was steadily growing ever since. Since 2006 the park is owned and operated by Merlin Entertainments.
Currently, Gardaland offers a total of eight roller coasters and a large number of stunning attractions and dark rides, i.e. the pirate ride I Corsari or the the drop tower Space Vertigo. The park is also known for its large number of shows.
Fun Fact #1: The Wing Coaster Raptor was the first one of its kind.
Fun Fact #2: The decoration of the Family Coaster Ortobruco Tour was once part of the Gardaland Waterpark in Milan, which is now the Acquatica Park.
Fun Fact #3: The park is included in the German Merlin Jahreskarte, whereas in the English Merlin Annual Pass you can get a discount of 50% on entrance tickets. As allways, you can find many 2:1 vouchers on several products.
Leolandia near Milan is a pleasant family amusement park, which is run by the Zamperla family. Originally, the park started as miniature park Minitalia in 1971. In 1997, the families Triberti and Fabbri turned it into an amusement park. Since 2007, however, the Zamperla family has been running the park and with them the expansion to a theme park took place, whereby mainly rides from their own construction are presented in the park.
Fun Fact #1: The Leolandia was the first theme park of the Zamperla family. Meanwhile they run, among others, the Luna Park and the Steeplechase Park on Coney Island, New York or Luneur in Rome.
Fun Fact #2: The large scale miniature land of the park has the shape of the Italy.
After having spend the early morning in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, my friend Hisham and I drove to Heidelberg to meet another friend of us. Together we decided to have a train trip to the nearby city of Frankfurt, where we wanted to have a look at their art festival of lights; the Luminale. Although, I’m not the biggest fan of Frankfurt, after all I only know their busy train station and some high sky scrappers, I was very impressed by the festival, which spreads out within large parts of the city and invites you to have a very long walk along the various instalations.
