After I left the Wonderland Amusement Park, I quickly changed my clothes in the car, soaked by the water attraction Shoot the Chute, before I set off on the 224-mile drive to Wichita Falls. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to get to Wichita Falls, which is about half the distance to Dallas, where Six Flags Over Texas was scheduled for the next day.
Wichita Falls is a quite modern looking city with 100.000 inhabitants. Compared to the other towns on the highway, there are a lot of hotels and restaurants here. Due to the very cheap price of the hotel and the premise to try out as many hotel chains as possible on this trip (although most of them admittedly belonged to the Wyndham Group), I booked a night in the Red Roof Inn.
The first impression of the hotel was quite decent. The receptionist was very nice and the motel made a good impression from the outside. The room was quite dirty and the shower didn’t work, so I had to wash myself using the sink. The rest was American standard (big room, poor breakfast); you simply can’t expect more.
