Cedar Point Shores sits right next to Cedar Point on the shore of Lake Erie. The water park originally opened in 1988 as Soak City and continued to grow over the years before taking on its current name in 2017.

The lineup includes tube slides, body slides, a mat racer, two river attractions, and a large wave pool. Some of the standout attractions are Point Plummet, Riptide Raceway, and Lake Erie Nor’Easter, along with plenty of areas aimed at families and younger guests.

What really sets Cedar Point Shores apart is the setting. Lake Erie is right next door, while Magnum XL-200 runs straight through the water park. It gives the place a backdrop that is hard to find anywhere else.

Michigan’s Adventure in Muskegon, Michigan, first opened in 1956 as a small animal park called Deer Park. Over the years, it gradually grew into a traditional American amusement park and has carried its current name since 1988. WildWater Adventure was added in 1990 and sits right next to the amusement park.

Shivering Timbers is easily the standout coaster, joined by two more wooden coasters with Wolverine Wildcat and Zach’s Zoomer. Thunderhawk, Corkscrew, and one of the relatively rare Arrow Dynamics Mad Mouse coasters round out the lineup, along with plenty of classic rides and water attractions.

The combination of the amusement park and WildWater Adventure is a big part of what makes Michigan’s Adventure stand out. Together, they offer a varied day filled with coasters, classic rides, and plenty of ways to cool off.

Superior Shores is the water park located directly inside Valleyfair in Shakopee, Minnesota. Its history dates back to 1983, when the first water slides opened here. Over the years, the water park became Whitewater Country, later Soak City and eventually the Superior Shores of today.

The park offers a varied selection of slides, ranging from fast body and drop-floor slides to tube, mat racing and family rafting attractions. Lighthouse Landing features several different slides from one large tower, while Breakers Bay and the Ripple Rapids lazy river offer a more relaxing change of pace. There are also several areas designed for younger visitors.

What makes Superior Shores particularly interesting is its mix of older and more modern attractions. Parts of the water park have developed over several decades, while newer slides add plenty of variety to the lineup. With admission already included with Valleyfair, the water park is also easy to combine with a day of roller coasters and rides next door.
