Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California, is one of the more unusual parks in the Six Flags family, combining a full amusement park with animal exhibits and presentations. The park traces its roots to 1968 and moved to its current location in Vallejo in 1986. After operating for several years as Marine World Africa USA, the park gradually added more rides and roller coasters before eventually becoming Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in 2007.

Today, roller coasters are a major part of the park, with Medusa, Joker and Superman Ultimate Flight among its best-known attractions. They are joined by a broad selection of thrill rides and family attractions, while the park’s animal exhibits remain an important part of its identity. Visitors can encounter a variety of marine animals and other species throughout the different areas of the park.

This mix of rides and animals gives Six Flags Discovery Kingdom a character of its own. With its long history as Marine World still visible in parts of the park, it feels quite different from a typical Six Flags amusement park.

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California, is one of America’s classic seaside amusement parks. Opened in 1907 along the shores of Monterey Bay, the Boardwalk has welcomed generations of visitors and remains closely connected to the traditional beach and amusement park culture of the California coast.

At the heart of the park is the Giant Dipper, the historic wooden roller coaster that has been operating since 1924 and remains one of the Boardwalk’s most recognizable attractions. It is joined by a varied collection of thrill rides, family attractions and classic amusement park rides, including the historic Looff Carousel. With the beach just steps away, the rides and surrounding boardwalk naturally blend into the lively atmosphere of the Santa Cruz waterfront.
