SeaWorld San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas, has been welcoming guests since 1988 and combines marine-life exhibits with a growing selection of rides and roller coasters. While animals and shows remain an important part of the park, thrill rides have become increasingly prominent over the years.

The coaster lineup includes Texas Stingray, Steel Eel, Great White and Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster, alongside newer additions such as Barracuda Strike. Beyond the rides, visitors can see dolphins, sea lions, penguins, sharks and other marine animals throughout the park, while live presentations and family attractions remain part of the experience.

SeaWorld San Antonio has developed into a park that balances its marine-life roots with a much broader attraction lineup. The result is a destination that feels distinctly different from a traditional zoo or a conventional amusement park.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, Texas, opened in 1992 on the site of a former limestone quarry. Originally developed as a theme park celebrating the music and culture of Texas, the park became part of the Six Flags family in the 1990s. Much of its original character remains visible today, particularly in the different themed areas and the massive quarry walls that surround much of the park.

Roller coasters have become a major part of Six Flags Fiesta Texas over the years. Iron Rattler follows the edge of the quarry before dropping from its towering walls, while Superman Krypton Coaster makes dramatic use of the same setting. Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster and Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger add to a varied coaster lineup, complemented by numerous thrill rides, family attractions and the included Hurricane Harbor water park.

The quarry is never far from view and gives Six Flags Fiesta Texas a setting unlike any other park in the chain. Combined with the park’s themed areas, live entertainment and strong attraction lineup, it remains one of the most interesting amusement parks in Texas.

Fun Fact #1: Six Flags Fiesta Texas is the group’s third theme park in Texas. However, the park was built and planned by the Gaylord Entertainment Company. However, it was not until 1998 that the park became the group’s property.

Fun Fact #2: The wooden roller coaster Rattler was famous for its strongly swinging support structure. After the conversion to Iron Rattler, this is no longer visible.

Fun Fact #3: In the early years you could roller skate in the park. Later, the Scooby Doo Ghostblasters dark ride was built on the same location.

Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas, is where the Six Flags story began. Opened in 1961 between Dallas and Fort Worth, the park was built around themed areas representing the different nations that had governed Texas throughout its history – the inspiration behind the Six Flags name. The concept proved successful and eventually grew into one of the largest amusement park chains in North America.

More than six decades later, Six Flags Over Texas still has a surprisingly varied collection of rides. Roller coasters such as New Texas Giant, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast and Titan are among the major attractions, while the historic Runaway Mine Train represents a much earlier generation of coaster design. Classic rides, family attractions and several original sections of the park add plenty to explore beyond the larger coasters.

Despite decades of expansion, parts of the original Six Flags Over Texas can still be found throughout the park. Historic buildings and older attractions sit alongside modern thrill rides, giving the park a sense of history that feels fitting for the place where Six Flags began.

Fun Fact #1: The El Aserradero is the world’s first log flume. Due to its popularity it was extended by a second track a few years after its premiere.

Fun Fact #2: In order to prevent the arms of the New Texas Giant roller coaster from extending out as far as possible due to the narrow clearance profile, the train built by Gerstlauer has Plexiglas panes on the sides.
