Verdener Domweih (2016)

After meeting some of the onride.de guys at Heide Park, I headed towards the Verdener Domweih in order to test the new Drifting Coaster by the showman Ahrend – a swinging coaster by Reverchon. It is basically a wild mouse style ride with some zigzag curves which suppose to get the cars into a swinging motion. Unfortunately for me, the swing was not at all working on my first and only trial. Therefore, I was left with the surprisingly steep drop at the start of the ride and a bunch of pointless curves for the rest of the layout. Shortly after my ride, the coaster went down.

Odenwaldbob (2016)

On my way back from Stuttgart to Hamburg I stopped with all my belongings at the summer toboggan run Wald-Michelbach, which was somehow on the way. The Odenwaldbob can hardly be overlooked on the way there, after all, one winds up the mountain halfway parallel to the Kreidacher Höhe.

In a slightly sloping right turn you leave the station and pick up some speed on a straight line. After a short left-hand bend, you now cross a country road and, after a drop, plunge directly into a left-hand roundabout. At full throttle, you now make several small right/left turns and immediately after that a wide right turn. After a left-hand bend, the ride continues downhill at high speed via several jumps parallel to the lift hill of the ride. After a short left turn, a right turn follows in a slightly serpentine fashion, which then merges into the second roundabout of the ride. This releases you into a wide right turn parallel to the slope, which then releases you into two hairpin bends and shortly afterwards into the braking section. This is followed by the return to the station.

Although the track is consistently equipped with brake swords of different materials resulting in different braking effects of the magnetic brakes on the bobsled, the ride on the Odenwaldbob is consistently fun and you never really had the feeling of being too slow, especially compared to conventional rides with centrifugal brakes on the sled like the Trapper Slider at the Fort Fun Abenteuerland amusement park. The 1000m long downhill run has a good mix of different elements, which makes it dynamic until the end and therefore a lot of fun.

A flying visit to the Trampolino Andernach

Trampolino Andernach

The Trampolino Andernach of the showman family Wingender is a children’s paradise on the outskirts of the city of Andernach, where adults are unfortunately not favoured by the usual price/performance ratio of various children’s play halls; after all, in theory there is already enough stuff around here for parents to pay a little more than their offspring.

Ring Renner

The reason for visiting the Trampolino Andernach is the small SBF Visa roller coaster Ring Renner, whose name was taken in reference to the Ring°Racer of the motor sport theme park/cemetery Ring°Werk at the Nürburgring, which was never particularly set in motion, and has been entertaining significantly more passengers since its opening year. The layout in the form of a simple figure eight is proven, and so is the joy when riding.

The other rides

The other attractions, besides the countless slides, are a brand new Sunkid Heege Butterfly, a comet swing, a Jungle Loop, a Nautic Jet, a Gerstlauer Kiddy Racer, and an outdoor splash battle. This is by the way just as big as the hall next door and offers besides the relaxation from the noisy interior, some barbecue huts. Children at least should have their fun here; childless adults, however, are also not looked at in a particularly weird way.
