Heide Park and the Corona measures

You can see that Merlin Entertainments is a little more professional than the medium-sized company nearby. It is therefore less surprising that the Heide Park Resort is also making exemplary progress in its implementation of the Corona measures. The entrance including instructions on how to wear your mask in the park simply works smoothly. In the park itself this is a different game, as many visitors do not want to follow the rules. Masks can be worn at will, often they only cover the mouth and not the nose. Also keeping distance is often an unsolvable task during the course of the day despite existing and clearly visible ground markings. Only in the attractions themselves the rules are respected. This is a pity and only ensures a large number of announcements.

Despite maximum capacity, the Corona measures taken result in longer queues at each attraction. The staff is visibly trying to keep the operation running at its best despite the measures taken. In this respect I would like to thank all the ride ops in the park; you guys are really great!

But as the queues were partly too exhausting for myself, I enjoyed the day with only a few rides. Especially because of that it was a quite relaxed day all in all, where a lot of videos but also some photos were taken.

Milsons Point and Darling Harbour

After my fantastic visit to Luna Park Sydney, Aris and I had enough time to explore the area a little bit before heading to our motel. We stayed at the Garden Lodge Sydney, which was a budget motel right next to a busy highway. Due to its location close to a light rail and a commuter train station it was an ideal starting point to explore the city.

Soon after we arrived at the motel, we took the light train towards Darling Harbour, where we visited the local Hard Rock Café for a delicious meal. By the time we stepped out of the restaurant, the sun had set, and Darling Harbour showed itself to us as a great nightlife location. We continued our first exploration tour of Sydney by crossing the heritage listed Pyrmont Bridge, before we admired the remains of the Metro Monorail – a failed mode of transport built in the 1980s, which became a tourist attraction towards the end of its life – with its modern looking stations; if you don’t know the story, you might think that they would built a new mode of transport very soon and already started with the stations.

We continued our walk towards the Westfield Centre, which is home to the Sydney Tower. While the Trippas White Group is operating the facilities bars and restaurants, Merlin Entertainments takes care of the operation deck Sydney Tower Eye. Unfortunately, we arrived a bit late to have a night-time view onto the city.

As it was quite a long day, we returned to the hotel shortly thereafter.

Alton Towers, located in the heart of the Midlands near Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, is one of the largest theme parks in the UK and offers a wide range of family-friendly rides for all ages. However, the park cannot and should not be limited to these. The large gardens and not least the ruins of the towers provide the park with a unique backdrop that is unparalleled worldwide.

With a total of 10 roller coasters, many of which – as part of the Secret-Weapon program – were world premieres, the park actually offers everything that makes an enthusiast’s heart beat faster.

Fun Fact #1: None of the attractions are allowed to be built higher than the treetops around them. For this reason, you fall into a 40m deep tunnel in Oblivion and make your way through a path blasted through stone in Nemesis.

Fun Fact #2: The Mad House Hex Legend of the Towers deals with the history of Chained Oak, which can still be admired today on the grounds of Chained Oak Farm directly opposite the theme park.
