Legoland California in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego, was the first LEGOLAND park to open in the United States. Since welcoming its first guests in 1999, the park has grown into a full resort while remaining firmly focused on families with younger children. LEGO models and playful details can be found throughout the park, giving even the simpler rides their own distinctive character.

At the heart of the park is Miniland USA, where millions of LEGO bricks recreate famous landmarks and cities from across the country. Around it, visitors will find a wide variety of family rides, interactive attractions and several small roller coasters, including Coastersaurus and The Dragon. Over the years, new themed areas have expanded the park beyond the traditional LEGO themes, while the adjacent water park and SEA LIFE Aquarium add even more to the resort.

LEGOLAND California is very much a park designed around children rather than thrill seekers. Its combination of LEGO-themed attractions, hands-on experiences and an impressive amount of detail makes it particularly enjoyable for families looking to spend a full day – or more – at the resort.

New York, New York

Casino:New York, New York (since 1997)
Address:3790 S Las Vegas Blvd
89109 Las Vegas

Operated by:MGM Resorts

New York, New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip brings a playful version of Manhattan to the Nevada desert. Opened in 1997, the resort is instantly recognizable by its recreation of the New York skyline, complete with skyscrapers, the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. Winding its way through it all is The Big Apple Coaster, one of the most visible amusement attractions on the Strip.

The roller coaster climbs high above the resort before diving through a series of large drops, sweeping turns and two inversions. Much of the appeal comes from its unusual setting, with the track running around and between the buildings of the New York-New York skyline. The newer trains with lap-bar restraints have also made the ride considerably more comfortable than it was with the original over-the-shoulder restraints.

The Big Apple Coaster fits perfectly into the over-the-top atmosphere of Las Vegas. Riding a large roller coaster through a recreation of Manhattan with the Las Vegas Strip all around you is an experience that would feel out of place almost anywhere else.
