Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, Florida, opened in 1990 as the first theme park at what is now Universal Orlando Resort. Originally built around the idea of taking guests behind the scenes of movies and television, the park has changed considerably over the years. While traces of the original studio concept remain, Universal Studios Florida is now primarily built around immersive attractions inspired by popular movies and characters.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley is one of the park’s highlights, with Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts hidden deep inside Gringotts Bank and the Hogwarts Express connecting the area with neighboring Islands of Adventure. Revenge of the Mummy remains one of Universal’s standout indoor roller coasters, while Men in Black: Alien Attack and E.T. Adventure represent very different generations of Universal’s signature dark rides.
Universal Studios Florida has never stopped changing, and that has always been part of its character. New attractions have replaced many of the original experiences over the years, but the idea of stepping into the movies remains at the heart of the park.
