Hamburger Winterdom (2014)

Häsler’s take on Disneyland’s long gone special effects dark ride Alien Encounter is just awesome. The show ride built by the showman himself offers a great suspense and has some interesting humour attached to it. The special effects are all to the point and leave you with a big grin on your face when exiting the ride. Not as frightening is the Double Jump Tagada by the showman Petter, which has a similar effect on its riders. Overall it was a very nice Winterdom.

Panoptikum (2014)

Wax Museums are always a very cheesy road side attraction. Apart of the famous Madame Tussauds in London or the Musée Grévin in Paris, there are not many outstanding attractions of this kind. Therefore, it is no big surprise that Hamburg has to feature such attraction at the famous Reeperbahn. Yet, the Panoptikum is different. Albeit it’s location and the for the most part very old figures, there is a lot of quality in this hidden gem attraction of Hamburg. Since more than 140 years, the family-owned attraction features a lot of entertainment for a relatively low entrance fee, which in my opinion is absolutely worth it on one of the many rainy days of the city.

Hamburger Sommerdom (2010)

One of my favorite rides by HUSS is the Top Spin. Although I’m not the biggest fan of the large versions, I’m definately one for the smaller ones, as they can offer a much more powerful and variable ride. Plaenert’s Top Spin Nr.2 is a great looking exemple of such a ride. I’ve spend nearly all of my budget at this ride and was never disappointed.
