Madrid (2021)

The year is 2021, and the effects of Covid are beginning to calm somewhat, yet travel is still restricted as most countries are closed to foreigners. Most travel is focused on domestic destinations, but things are slowly returning to normal. While a visit to Madrid last year resembled a ghost town, this year’s visit felt much more normal – even though we were hit with a heat wave during our visit.

Walhalla

The Walhalla is one of the major attractions nearby Regensburg. It was built between 1830 and 1842 by King Ludwig I of Bavaria by the architect Leo von Klenze. It serves as a hall of fame that honours laudable and distinguished people in German history – “politicians, sovereigns, scientists and artists of the German tongue”.

Passau

I’ve visited Passau during a business trip. Although I mostly spend the time in the halls of ZF looking onto very interesting test machines, there was enough time to explore the lovely Dreiflüssestadt (“City of Three Rivers”) in the afternoon.
